AEGRUS offers excellent Finnish fast and straightforward black metal, quite classic and pure, reminding me at Azaghal or the like. Without fancy or atmospheric add-ons the horde storms enthusiastically and wild like a punk band through the album. Some songs are surprisingly epic and full of tension. Sometimes it is enough to integrate clever changes in pace. Check "Followers of the Fals Prophets" or "Where the Forest emanates Death".
Favorite track: Where the Forest Emanates Death.

You want aggressive black metal with harsh vocals and rousing riffs that claw their way into your ears and will not leave there easily? Well, you found it. Aegrus are up there with the very best and continue writing great songs with some of the best melodic and fast guitars in the business.

This is the Black Metal AOTY for sure! Damn, it's though to decide which one of the tracks I like best...

Finnish black-metal labeled band, offering a fantastic blend of blackened thrash and true ABM IMHO, see for instance (or better, "hear") track n.3 "Through Devil's...". Whatever my inability to really nail down the style is completely irrelevant. It's an amazing variation on the BM theme, and it's intertwined with supreme majestic melodies from the abyss. I'm blown away, this is going to be one of the AOTY for sure. All melodic BM fans will absolutely love this one !!!

The most elite Finnish Black Metal band at the moment, and one of the greatest Black Metal bands ever. As an off-spring of Sargeist, they are surpassing the master. Something makes this outstanding band different from others and I believe that something is the pure devotion to what Black Metal must be, a music for the Devil and Luciferian Illumination.
Without a doubt, the best Black Metal album of the year!
