Metallurgical Fire By far the sharpest attack from this band, and one of the most ferocious bm offerings in recent memory. Should have picked it up long ago. Minenwerfer never made an album I loved all the way through until this beast.

David Fischer Being a big fan of WW1 themed black metal, Minenwerfer is an essential listen for me which I delayed for way too long. Feuerwalze is exactly what I expected it to be - a conflagration, a spine-shattering, outrageously gruesome display of the horrors of war. The record maims everything in its way, propelling the listener through 48 minutes of frontline terror. The atmosphere is tangible and challenging; the dialogue at the beginning of Nachtschreck makes me shudder and gnash my teeth every time. Favorite track: Nachtschreck.

A campaign started on 1 July 1916. A campaign of muddy, rat infested trenches, endless artillery barrages, and cracks of rifles in the distance. A campaign of unsettling night raids, close quarters combat, and suffocating fumes of chlorine gas.
The sound of the treads of the first tanks grinding the bones of those long dead on the battlefield to dust and of the screams from no man's land of men bleeding out in the night from the previous day's failed offensive.

This is the soundtrack for that campaign. Welcome to the Somme.

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
