Vital Remains managed to make death metal epic. This was possible thanks to Dave Suzuki and his out of this world musicianship. This album established the styles of the future works and, to me, is their best. Powerful, fast, majestic and melodic, all at once.

I can't formally retract the erroneous 2.0 I gave this back in 2018, but I can say that, five years on, I've come around to this record in a big way. Quality death metal with great atmosphere without being "atmospheric" (read: boring) metal.
